Users have had trouble accessing some websites or webpages from their iPhone 18 Pro. When you can’t load a website or webpage from your iPhone 18 Pro, but you can from other devices, you’ll want to know why Safari isn’t working on your phone.

In this article, we list several troubleshooting steps to help you figure out why Safari on your iPhone 18 Pro won’t open some web pages.

How to fix Safari not opening websites on iPhone 18 Pro

You can try the following to troubleshoot Safari problems on your iPhone. Try each one and then test if the problematic websites are opening before moving to the next.

Basic troubleshooting for your iPhone 18 Pro

  • Restart your iPhone 18 Pro: Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
  • Make sure you are running the latest version of iOS. Go to Settings and tap on General. Tap on Software Update and install any available updates.

Troubleshoot the Wi-Fi connection

These steps can help you determine if the problem is with your Wi-Fi.

  • Try loading the same pages using cellular data:

    1. Open Control Center by swiping down from the upper-right corner of the screen.
    2. Tap the Wi-Fi button to temporarily disconnect from the Wi-Fi network.
  • Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network. See if the websites will load.
  • If websites will load while connected to cellular or to a different Wi-Fi, try rebooting your modem/router:

    1. Restart your router and cable modem by unplugging the devices and then plugging them back in.

Clear Safari data and check settings

  • Clear website data:

    1. Open Settings, tap on Apps, then tap on Safari.
    2. Scroll down and tap on Clear History and Website Data. This deletes your Safari history, cookies, and cache, and doesn’t change your AutoFill information.
    3. Confirm the timeframe that you want to clear, then tap Clear History.
  • Check for VPN and security software. If you have a VPN turned on, some apps or websites might block content from loading.

    1. Open the Settings app, then swipe down to reveal the search field.
    2. Search within settings for these words: VPN, profile, firewall, and filter.
    3. Look for any VPN that may be installed. If you have VPN software, you can delete it or contact the developer for more information about how the software could be affecting your network connections.
    4. Also, look at Settings > General > VPN & Device Management, where you can see the profiles you have installed. If your device is managed by your organization or configured for access to their apps and services, consult them before making changes.
  • Check that JavaScript is enabled.

    1. Open Settings, tap on Apps, then tap on Safari.
    2. Scroll down and tap on Advanced.
    3. If JavaScript is off, toggle the switch to turn it on.
  • Check for Private Relay. If the issue continues and only affects a certain website or webpage, check if you have Private Relay turned on.

    1. Open Settings and tap on your name at the top.
    2. Tap on iCloud, then if Private Relay is on, tap on Private Relay.
    3. Toggle the switch next to Private Relay to turn it off.
    4. Select Turn Off Until Tomorrow.

Reset Network Settings

  • You can do this if nothing else seems to be working. This resets all Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings, so you will need to set up your Wi-Fi networks again. Copy down your Wi-Fi networks and their passwords, then Reset Network Settings by going to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

If Safari still doesn’t load websites and you tried all of these steps, contact the website developer for more help. If none of the above has solved the Safari problem you are experiencing on your iPhone 18 Pro, you may want to contact Apple Support for more help.
