You can change light and color settings on Apple TV 4K for color differentiation, light sensitivity, and brightness. Differentiate Without Color replaces items that rely solely on color to convey information, and Color Filters help users who are color blind or who have difficulty reading text on the display.

Apple TV 4K can also automatically dim video content that depicts repeated flashing or strobing lights. And with Light Sensitivity and Reduce White Point, you’re able to adjust how bright or dim your display looks.

Quick tip: If you want to invert light and dark colors on Apple TV 4K, read our guide, Change appearance settings on Apple TV 4K.

Differentiate without color

This setting swaps out items that rely solely on color to convey information.

  1. Go to Settings on Apple TV 4K.
  2. Go to Accessibility > Display and select Differentiate Without Color to turn it on.

Dim Flashing Lights

If video content depicts repeated flashing or strobing lights, you can have Apple TV 4K dim it automatically.

  1. Go to Settings on Apple TV 4K.
  2. Go to Accessibility > Display. Then select Dim Flashing Lights.

When this feature is enabled, the playback timeline indicates when flashing lights occur for supported media.

Important: Your Apple TV 4K uses an on-device algorithm to detect flashing or strobing lights included in supported video content and automatically dims them on your TV in real time. Motion settings should not be relied upon in circumstances where you could be harmed or injured, in high-risk situations, or for the treatment of any medical condition.

Turn on Color Filters

If you’re color blind or have difficulty reading text on the display, this setting is for you.

  1. Go to Settings on Apple TV 4K.
  2. Go to Accessibility > Display > Color Filters. Then select Color Filters to turn it on.

You can select from a variety of filters used to differentiate colors.

Turn on Light Sensitivity

Use this setting to adjust the level of dimness or brightness on your display.

  1. Go to Settings on Apple TV 4K.
  2. Go to Accessibility > Display > Light Sensitivity. Then select Light Sensitivity to turn it on.
  3. Select Intensity and swipe on the clickpad or touch surface to adjust the percentage of display intensity.

Turn on Reduce White Point

This setting adjusts the brightness level of colors on your display.

  1. Go to Settings on Apple TV 4K.
  2. Go to Accessibility > Display > Reduce White Point and then select Reduce White Point to turn it on.
  3. Select Intensity. Then swipe on the clickpad or touch surface to adjust the percentage of white point intensity.

Not all features and content are available in all countries or regions or on all Apple TV hardware models.
