You can use Siri on HomePod to get answers to general questions, get location and traffic information, get information about the weather, and check sports and stock news. Ask about a place, and it’ll show up in Maps on your iPhone or iPad as a Siri Suggestion. Siri can even convert units and translate words and phrases.

Siri: Ask Siri any of the questions below.

Get answers to general questions

  • “Who was the 13th president of the United States?”
  • “What does a cello sound like?”
  • “What’s the tallest mountain in Germany?”
  • “What does ‘happenstance’ mean?”
  • “How many calories are in a potato?”

Get location and traffic information

When you ask about a place on HomePod, that place appears as a Siri Suggestion in Maps on your iPhone or iPad. To quickly get directions, open Maps, then tap the location under Siri Suggestions.

  • “Where’s the nearest coffee shop?”
  • “How long will it take me to drive to Milwaukee?”

Get weather information

  • “What’s the weather going to be like today?”
  • “When is sunrise in Paris?”
  • “What will the weather be like in Yosemite this weekend?”
  • “Will it snow in Denver today?”

Convert units and solve math

  • “What’s 38 percent of 299?”
  • “How many cups are in a quart?”
  • “What’s 50 dollars in euros?”

Get sports information

  • “Who has scored the most goals in Spanish soccer?”
  • “Give me the latest sports news.”

Get news and stock information

  • “What’s the news today?”
  • “How’s the stock market doing?”
  • “What’s the market capitalization of Apple?”

Translate words and phrases

Siri can translate from English into Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, and Spanish.

  • “Translate ‘this is delicious’ into Chinese.”
  • “How do you say ‘I love you’ in French?”
