You can remove a device from your Apple ID device list. Your Apple ID device list consists of a Mac, iPhone, iPad, or Watch, as well as an Apple TV, HomePod/HomePod mini, Windows system, or third-party smart TV with Apple TV software that is logged into your iCloud account. This is also called the trusted device list. This article explains how you can delete a device from the devices connected to your Apple account list.

You might want to remove the device from the Apple ID devices list in these situations:

  • If you want to sell or give away the device
  • If you no longer own or use the device

When you do this, the removed device will lose its access to any iCloud/Apple services. This, however, does not wipe the device. When you remove a device, you will no longer be signed in to the device. There are four ways to do this. Here is how:

Use your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch to remove a device from your Apple ID device list

  • On your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch, tap Settings > [your name], then swipe down until you see your devices.
  • Tap the name of the device you want to remove from your Apple ID device list.
  • Tap Remove from Account.
  • Tap Remove to confirm.

  • click Devices in the left-hand menu bar.

Other things you should know

  • You cannot remove the same device you are using to remove on your iOS device.
  • As i mentioned above, this does not erase the device. To erase the device and completely remove the device, you can go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone> Erase All Content and Settings.
  • You should check this list from time to time, if you find a device that shouldn’t be there, remove the device and then change your Apple ID password.
