How to see your Facebook video watch history and delete it

Learn how to view and erase your Facebook video watch history to protect your privacy and control your online footprint.

Videos you watch on Facebook are saved in your account’s activity log. If you use this social media platform on a shared device, you may want to clear your watch history for privacy reasons, especially when it has clips you do not want others to know about.

Additionally, Facebook uses your watch history to recommend more videos to you. So, if a video you watched in the past is polluting your recommendations, you can remove it, and hopefully, the Facebook algorithm will adjust its recommendations accordingly.

Delete your Facebook video history

This history is based on your Facebook account, and you can clear it from your phone or desktop.

iPhone or Android app

Open the Facebook app and go to your Profile tab. Facebook personalizes the navigation bar, so where this sits varies from account to account — on iPhone the bar runs along the bottom of the screen, and on Android it runs across the top.
Tap the three dots menu in the top right corner of your profile and choose Activity log.
Tap Search in the top right corner, scroll down, and select Videos you’ve watched. You can also tap the Your Facebook activity dropdown, expand the Posts section, tap See more, and pick Videos you’ve watched from there.
Now:
- To remove a particular video from this list, tap the three dots icon for it and choose Delete. It disappears from your watch history straight away.
- To delete your entire watch history, tap Clear Video Watch History and then tap Clear to confirm.
- And if you only want to deal with a particular stretch of time, use the filter controls at the top of the activity log to narrow the list by date first, then delete what’s left.

Tip: If your app still uses the older layout, you can reach the same screen by tapping the Menu icon, then Settings & privacy > Settings, and scrolling down to Activity log.

Tip: The same steps work for Videos you’ve searched for, if you want to clear those as well.

Computer browser

Visit facebook.com on your Mac or Windows PC.
Click your profile picture from the top right corner and choose Settings & privacy > Activity log.
Now, select Videos you’ve watched.
From here:
- Click the three dots icon for an item and choose Delete to remove it.
- Use the master Clear Video Watch History button to delete your entire watch history, then click Clear Video Watch History again in the confirmation box.
- Or use the date filter to pick a year followed by a month, so you see only your watch history from that month, and delete it.

What about the Reels?

Reels you watch are saved too. Facebook keeps them alongside regular clips under Videos you’ve watched, which means you can remove a single Reel or wipe the lot using the same steps above. There is no way to isolate Reels from ordinary videos in that list — each one is logged simply as "watched a video," with the date and time you viewed it.

Facebook also gives Reels their own history. Tap the Reels tab, tap the three dots (or your profile icon) in the top right corner, and choose History. Older versions of the app label this Watched reels instead. It reaches back 30 days, and you can’t sort it or filter it by creator. Another route to the same list is Saved > Reels > Watched.

One caveat: Facebook doesn’t reliably log every single Reel you scroll past. If a Reel never turns up under Videos you’ve watched, there’s nothing to delete, and refreshing won’t summon it.

If you simply don’t like a Reel, tap the three dots button and pick whichever option your app version offers to see fewer like it — Hide reel, Show less, or Not interested. Facebook’s algorithm will recommend fewer videos of this kind to you. That Show less button is also available when watching video clips on Facebook.
