Wi-Fi Calling lets your iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max make or receive a phone call over an active Wi-Fi connection. Wi-Fi Calling uses a high speed internet Wi-Fi connection. If you are in an area with poor cellular coverage, you will probably find this feature very helpful.

Wi-Fi Calling offers many benefits:

  • You will be able to use your phone number to receive and make calls.
  • If your carrier supports Wi-Fi Calling on iCloud-connected devices, you can add your other devices (your Mac, iPad etc).

Wi-Fi Calling is not working for you? This article explains what you can do if you can’t turn on or use Wi-Fi Calling on your iPhone 18 Pro.

The first thing to do is to make sure that your cellular carrier offers the Wi-Fi Calling feature. For example, currently, the following carriers support this in the USA:

  • Alaska GCI
  • Appalachian Wireless
  • AT&T
  • C Spire
  • Consumer Cellular
  • Cricket
  • Family Mobile
  • Metro by T-Mobile
  • Mint Mobile
  • Simple Mobile
  • Spectrum
  • T-Mobile
  • Ting
  • TracFone / Straight Talk
  • Ultra Mobile
  • Verizon Wireless
  • Xfinity Mobile

If you want to know if your carrier supports this or not, you may contact your carrier or check this Apple document.

Furthermore, please make sure that your Wi-Fi connection is fast enough. Also make sure that your router is turned on and you are not far from it.

What to do if you’re having trouble using Wi-Fi Calling on iPhone 18 Pro

Please try each step until your issue is resolved. Wait two minutes before you go from one step to the next.

  • Make sure that Wi-Fi Calling is enabled on your iPhone. You can check this by going to Settings > Cellular > Wi-Fi Calling. If your iPhone has multiple SIMs, tap the line you want to use Wi-Fi Calling.
  • Restart your phone, you can restart your phone by going to Settings > General > Shut Down, then drag the slider. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo. It is also a good idea to restart your modem and router.
  • Connect to a different Wi-Fi network. Not all Wi-Fi networks work with Wi-Fi Calling.
  • Disable Wi-Fi Calling, wait a few seconds and then enable again by going to Settings > Cellular > Wi-Fi Calling.
  • Update your carrier settings by going to Settings > General > About. If there is an update available, you will see an option to update.
  • Reset network settings by going to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note that resetting this will delete your network settings like your saved Wi-Fi passwords etc.
  • Update your iPhone to the latest version of the iOS software. You can do that easily by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
  • Turn Airplane Mode on and off by going to Settings > Airplane Mode. Wait five seconds between turning Airplane Mode on and off.

If you are still having problems, you may want to contact Apple.
