Some apps have a Settings menu within the app, and you can adjust settings for other specific apps on Apple TV 4K. Apps are automatically updated by default when new versions are released. Apple TV 4K can also automatically add apps that have an Apple TV 4K version when they’re downloaded on an iPhone or iPad.

Change app settings

Some apps have a Settings menu within the app. For other apps, do the following:

  1. Go to Settings on Apple TV 4K.
  2. Select Apps, select the app you want, and then make changes.

Set up automatic updates or installation

By default, apps update automatically when new versions are released, and you can turn this feature on or off.

Apple TV 4K can also add apps automatically when they have an Apple TV 4K version and you download them on an iPhone or iPad that’s signed in to the same Apple Account, if you set it to.

  1. Go to Settings on Apple TV 4K.
  2. Go to Apps and then do either of the following:

    • Turn automatic updates on or off: Select Automatically Update Apps.

If Automatically Update Apps is turned off, you can select any app in the App Store to check if an update is available and manually update there.

    • Turn automatic app installation on or off: Select Automatically Install Apps.

Not all features and content are available in all countries or regions or on all Apple TV hardware models.
