When you submit a support request to Apple, you will most likely need to provide your iPhone’s serial number, IMEI or IMEI2. Also, if you want to view a stolen device, you will likely need one of these numbers. Fortunately, these are very easy to find out (even if you no longer have the device to hand).
In this article, I’ll explain where you can find serial number, IMEI and IMEI2 of your iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Serial number, IMEI and IMEI2 – What’s the difference?
The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is a 15-digit serial number that is unique and identifiable worldwide. No two cell phones have the same IMEI, so it is the “fingerprint” of a cell phone. IMEI2 is the second IMEI number of your phone. The serial number, on the other hand, is determined by the mobile phone operator. This means that theoretically there can be two smartphones from different manufacturers with the same serial number.
How to locate iPhone 16 APPLE’s IMEI?
iPhone 16 active: Check serial number IMEI and IMEI2
If your phone is still active and unlocked, you can easily find the serial number, IMEI and IMEI2. Navigate to settings and tap on “General”, then “About”. Directly above you will find iPhone 16 serial number, a little further down you’ll find the IMEI and IMEI2.
Alternatively, you can find iPhone 16 IMEI and IMEI2 using the telephone function. Launch the phone app and type in the code: *#06#. The IMEI and IMEI2 will then pop up on the screen.
iPhone 16 lost: Check IMEI and serial number without an Apple device
Even if you lost your phone, there are still ways to get your iPhone 16 serial number, IMEI and IMEI2. There are various possibilities for that:
If you still have your phone’s packaging, you can easily find iPhone 16 IMEI, IMEI2 and serial number on the sticker that also contains the barcode.
If you have already backed up your phone using iTunes or Finder, you can also find iPhone 16 serial number and IMEI in the corresponding backup program. To do this, open the program and go to “Settings”. You will find a list of all backups under the “Devices” tab. Move the mouse pointer over a backup of the respective iPhone and hold the mouse pointer there. A window will appear from which you can find both the IMEI, IMEI2 and the serial number of your iPhone 16.
