Use Siri to play your favorite music services on HomePod. You can ask Siri something like “Play some music,” “Next song,” or “What album is this?” Add a supported music service to your HomePod, and you can play music from that app without naming it.

Note: Some music services require a subscription. Some requests may not work with all music services.

Play music on HomePod

Siri: Ask Siri something like:

  • “Play some music.”
  • “I like this” or “I don’t like this music.”
  • “Play the other version.”
  • “Next song” or “Previous track.”
  • “Play something totally different.”
  • “Play Apple Music 1 radio.”
  • “What album is this?”
  • “When was this song released?”

Add a third-party music service to HomePod

When you add a supported music service to your HomePod, you can play music from that app without having to mention the app by name. Some music services require a subscription.

Note: Not all music services are supported on HomePod. To use Siri to play music from non-connected music services, see Play audio on HomePod using iPhone or iPad.

  1. Sign in to the supported music service app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. In the music service app, go to its settings. Add the music service to your HomePod.
  3. Open the Home app and tap the More button. Tap Home Settings.

Note: If you have more than one home, settings are shown for your current home (based on your location). To edit a different home, tap Homes, then tap the home you want to edit.

  4. In the People section, tap your name.
  5. In the Connected Media section, tap the music service.

If you don’t want to use a music service with HomePod, you can remove it. In the Home app, tap the More button, tap Home Settings, then tap your user profile. Tap the music service, then turn off Use in Home.

You can also set the user account that is used when someone’s voice isn’t recognized. In the Home app on your iPhone or iPad, tap a HomePod, tap the Settings button, then tap Primary User.

This guide is for HomePod software version 27 or later.
