This article explains how you can fix your iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max Bluetooth that randomly keeps disconnecting and reconnecting itself. It appears that this is an ongoing and persistent pairing issue. This issue may also include an issue where Bluetooth may turn off itself. This means that your Bluetooth accessory (AirPods, car stereo, keyboard, printer, Apple Watch, etc) that is connected to your iPhone 18 Pro won’t work as expected and your accessory and device will have intermittent Bluetooth connectivity problems. Here is how you can troubleshoot this problem on your iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max:
1. Is your accessory out of range?
If your Bluetooth accessory keeps disconnecting from your iPhone 18 Pro, this is the first thing to check. Ensure that your iPhone is in range of the Bluetooth accessory with which you are trying to use and pair with your iPhone. If not, try bringing the devices closer together. Your iPhone must be within about 33 feet (10 meters) of the Bluetooth accessory to pair. And lastly, move away from other electronic devices to see if this changes anything. This is because some electronic devices can cause wireless interference that can disrupt Bluetooth connections.
2. Is your Bluetooth on?
Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn on Bluetooth. Also, ensure that your Bluetooth accessory is turned on and in pairing mode. You may need to review your Bluetooth accessory documentation for help if needed. Ensure that Airplane Mode is not enabled. If you can’t turn on Bluetooth or the setting is grayed out, contact Apple Support.
3. Is your accessory charged?
Make sure that your Bluetooth accessory is on and fully charged or connected to power. If your accessory uses batteries, see if they need to be replaced. Then turn your Bluetooth accessory off and back on again. If you have not paired the accessory with your iPhone before, you might need to place it in discovery mode first ā check your accessory’s instructions.
4. Restart your iPhone and your accessory
Go to Settings > General > Shut Down, drag the power-off slider, then wait 30 seconds for your iPhone to turn off. To turn it back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
5. Unpair and pair again
On your iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth. Find the accessory you are having this problem with, tap the info (i) icon next to it, then tap Forget This Device. Tap Forget Device to confirm. If you unpair AirPods, they are automatically unpaired from other devices where you are signed in to your Apple Account. After forgetting your accessory, put it back in discovery mode, then pair it again.
6. Check your Bluetooth permission
Does your accessory have an app that you use? Some apps may request the ability to use Bluetooth. Ensure that they are enabled. Go to the Settings app, tap Privacy & Security, then select Bluetooth. Then locate the app and ensure that it is enabled.
7. Ensure that your iPhone 18 Pro and accessory are up to date
Updates may include bug fixes addressing this issue as well. Updating your iPhone to the latest version of software may fix your Bluetooth problem. You can check for updates by going to Settings > General > Software Update. If there is an update, tap Download and Install. Furthermore, if your accessory has upgradeable software, update your accessory too.
8. Reset Network Settings
On your iPhone, reset your network settings. Please note that if you reset your network settings, all of your network-related settings will be erased such as your Wi-Fi passwords, etc. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset, then tap Reset Network Settings and follow the onscreen instructions.
9. Reset your accessory
If your accessory is resettable, try resetting it. For example, you can reset AirPods if they keep disconnecting from your iPhone 18 Pro. For this, again contact your accessory manufacturer or review its documentation.
If your Bluetooth keeps disconnecting and reconnecting on your iPhone 18 Pro after the steps above, contact Apple for support options. You may want to reserve a Genius Bar appointment. You may also want to contact your accessory manufacturer if it is not Apple.
