This article explains how you can troubleshoot when your iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max repetitively keeps connecting and disconnecting when you plug it into your Mac. This can be frustrating because, for example, if you experience this problem, you may be unable to charge your iPhone when you plug your charging cable into a USB port on your Mac.
Please try each step until your issue is resolved.
How to fix iPhone 18 Pro Disconnecting From Mac
1-The first thing you should check is your charging, USB cable for signs of damage. Try using a different cable. Try using a different USB port on your computer. Try unplugging and then replugging. If you see the “Allow accessory to connect?” alert on your Mac, click Allow.
Also check the connectors on the cable and on your iPhone for damage or debris. If necessary, gently remove the debris and clean the connectors on your iPhone. Don’t use compressed air.
If you are using a defective, damaged, or non Apple-certified cable, you may see the “Accessory may not be supported” alert.
2-Restart your iPhone and restart your Mac. On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Shut Down, then drag the slider. To turn it back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > Restart.
3-Ensure that you have the latest version of iOS. Go to Settings > General > Software Update, then tap Download and Install.
4-Force restart your iPhone. Here is how:
- Press and quickly release the volume up button.
- Press and quickly release the volume down button.
- Press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo (this might take longer than 10 seconds).
5-Disconnect your iPhone from your Mac. And, on your iPhone, tap:
- Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Location & Privacy.
And now connect your iPhone to your Mac with your USB cable.
This resets your location and privacy settings, so you will need to regrant permission for apps to use your location again. Your iPhone also forgets the computers you’ve chosen to trust: when you connect it to your Mac again, the alert asks whether you trust that computer ā tap Trust.
6-Check for VPN and other third-party security software on your Mac, and make sure that you’re using the latest version of macOS and the latest version of iOS.
If none of the tips help you, then you may want to contact Apple. Apple offers live chat support. You may also reserve a Genius Bar appointment.
