Several iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max users have said that their device appears to be in Airplane Mode even when they havenāt activated it. Users have further said they see the Airplane icon in the upper corner of their display even when Airplane Mode is turned off. And, furthermore, some users have reported that they see no other status symbols and icons (Wi-Fi, signal bars, battery, etc) at the top of the screen except the Airplane icon. This article explains how you can fix this issue.
You can turn on Airplane Mode easily. On your iPhone 18 Pro, open Control Center and tap the Airplane Mode button. The Airplane Mode icon will appear when it is turned on. You can also easily turn it off at any time. When it is off, the icon should disappear.
When you first turn on Airplane Mode, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cellular all turn off. You can turn Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or cellular back on from Control Center while Airplane Mode stays on.
Restart
Restarting your iPhone 18 Pro may fix your Airplane Mode. Here is how you can restart your iPhone:
- Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
- Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your iPhone to turn off.
- To turn your iPhone back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.
Update
Ensure that your iPhone 18 Pro has the latest version of iOS. Apple uses software updates to introduce new features, bug fixes, security patches, and other optimizations. Updates are free. You can go to Settings > General > Software Update to check for updates. And if there is an update, follow the onscreen instruction to update your iPhone.
Force-restart your iPhone
You may want to force restart your iPhone. Force-restarting your iPhone may fix unusual behaviors like this. This is a good idea if a simple restart does not help you. Here is how:
- Press and quickly release the volume up button.
- Press and quickly release the volume down button.
- Press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo (this might take longer than 10 seconds).
Reset Network Settings
If you are still having this problem, you may want to reset your network settings. This will not delete your photos, apps, or other data.
