Siri on Apple TV 4K helps you quickly find movies and TV shows to watch, music and podcasts to listen to, and apps to download. You’re able to search by title, topic, genre, actors, director, and more. Siri can even search within apps like YouTube.
Quick tip: Siri understands a wide variety of phrases and search terms, not just what’s listed below, so try different queries and see what you can find.
Get recommendations based on your voice
Once you set up voice recognition, Siri can give you personalized recommendations, or switch profiles when there are multiple profiles on Apple TV 4K.
Siri: Press and hold the Siri/Search button on your remote, then say something like:
- “What should I watch?”
- “Play my music”
- “Switch to my profile”
Search for movies, TV shows, and apps
Siri can find movies and TV shows based on a wide range of criteria—including title, topic, genre, actors, director, age appropriateness, and more.
Siri: Press and hold the Siri/Search button on your remote, then say something like:
- “Find [movie title]”
- “Play Episode 3 of Season 1 of [TV show]”
- “Show me popular comedies”
- “Find movies starring [actor/actress]”
- “Find documentaries about cars”
- “Find me movies in 4K”
- “Watch great dramas”
- “Find me some TV shows that are good for kids”
- “Search for funny horror movies”
Quick tip: Combine search terms, like “funny” and “horror”, to narrow your results.
Search for podcasts
To search specifically for podcasts, include “podcast” in your query.
Siri: Press and hold the Siri/Search button on your remote, then say something like:
- “Get some funny podcasts”
- “Find podcasts about surfing”
- “Play ‘Radiolab’ podcast”
If the current episode is available, Apple TV 4K begins playing it right away.
Search for apps to download
Search for apps by app name or category.
Siri: Press and hold the Siri/Search button on your remote, then say something like:
- “Find Crossy Road”
- “Find weather apps”
- “Show me some sports apps”
Search within a specific app
Many apps let you search directly within them. Include “YouTube” in your Siri request, for example, to search for items on YouTube. Siri then opens the YouTube app automatically (or prompts you to install it), adding your request to its search screen.
Siri: Press and hold the Siri/Search button on your remote, then say something like:
- “Search for Coldplay on YouTube”
- “Show me crafts for kids on YouTube”
- “Search YouTube for Minecraft”
Not all features and content are available in all countries or regions or on all Apple TV hardware models.
