Several users have reported a problem where iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max do not connect automatically to a known Wi-Fi network such as a home network. You can easily connect to the Internet wirelessly by using a Wi-Fi network on your iPhone. Known Wi-Fi networks, Wi-Fi networks your iPhone has successfully connected with previously, will be joined automatically because your iPhone will remember its credentials. As it is expected, a lot of users find this feature very convenient.
Your iPhone 18 Pro will not automatically connect to Wi-Fi network unless they are known networks.
Are you having Wi-Fi problems at home or in your office? Do not worry. There are some things you can do to get it to work. The tips below will allow you to identify and fix the most common Wi-Fi problems.
Fix: iPhone 18 Pro Cannot Automatically Connect To Wi-Fi
There may be an issue with (a) your iPhone 18 Pro (b) your Internet service provider, ISP, (e.g. Comcast etc) or (c) your Wi-Fi connection (e.g. your router etc).
Restart Everything
1. Restart your router and cable modem by unplugging the devices and then plugging them back in.
2. Restart your iPhone by pressing and holding either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
After restarting an iPhone, Wi-Fi credentials become available only after you unlock the device. Your device can then automatically join a known wireless network.
Update
Update your Wi-Fi router’s firmware. If you need help, contact the router’s manufacturer. Also update your iPhone 18 Pro. To update the iOS software wirelessly, you can go to Settings > General > Software Update. But your devices must be connected to the Internet. Can you join another network for this step? Or you may go to a different place. If not, you can update by connecting your iPhone to your computer. On a Mac, select your device in the left sidebar of the Finder window, click General, then click Check for Update and Download and Update. On a Windows PC, in the Apple Devices app select the device in the sidebar, select General, then select Update. You may need to first select Check for Update to see if an update is available. In iTunes, click the device button in the iTunes toolbar, click the Summary tab, then click Check for Update and Download and Update.
Internet
1. Make sure that your router is connected to the Internet. Make sure that you are not having problems with your ISP provider. If nothing works, you may want to contact your ISP (Frontier, ATT, etc.). Perhaps, you forgot to pay your Internet bills?
2. Furthermore, your router may use MAC address filtering, authentication, or access control. When this feature is enabled, your router can be set up to allow only devices that have specified MAC (media access control) addresses to join the network. Apple’s recommended setting for it is Disabled.
3. Lastly, check to see if there are any unplugged or loose network cables.
iPhone
1. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on (Settings > Wi-Fi)
2. Make sure your iPhone is not in Airplane Mode (Settings > Airplane Mode)
3. Try moving your iPhone closer to your router. Because you may be outside of wireless signal range.
4. Turn Wi-Fi off in Settings > Wi-Fi, wait a few seconds and then turn on.
5. Try Forget This Network. Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and you will see a list of available Wi-Fi networks; now tap Edit in the upper-right corner of the screen, then tap the More Info button next to the Wi-Fi network that you are unable to connect to. Now tap Forget This Network, then tap Forget to confirm.
6. Resetting your network settings can help fix the network connection. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note that all of your Wi-Fi settings (your passwords etc) will be deleted.
7. Make sure Auto-Join is on for the network. Your iPhone won’t automatically rejoin a known network if Auto-Join is turned off for it. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi, tap Edit in the corner of the screen to view the networks known to your device, tap the More Info button next to the network, and make sure Auto-Join is turned on.
