iOS 27 is currently on its 4th beta, and it’s actually looking really good. In my opinion, this is one of the best updates we have gotten in the last few years. Once you have this update installed on your device, you will notice how good it works, the performance, the battery, everything is great.

As I’ve just mentioned, we’re just on the 4th beta with the 5th beta coming up very soon. But we also have some important new features to discuss that we have been able to discover on the 4th beta of iOS 27.

Connectivity Assist

With iOS 27, we have gotten a new feature for Wi-Fi that allows your cellular data to assist your Wi-Fi so that you get a way better experience using the internet on your device. Once you don’t have a stable Wi-Fi connection or the internet is dropping, Connectivity Assist will automatically work with cellular data to improve your connection.

Now with the 4th beta of iOS 27, you will have Connectivity Assist within the Wi-Fi networks, so you can choose to individually use it or not for a certain network you’re connected to. You go to Wi-Fi settings, tap the i button next to the name of the Wi-Fi where you’re connected, and then you will see Use Cellular Data with Wi-Fi. This is that same Connectivity Assist feature.

On the main page of your Wi-Fi networks is the kill switch where you can enable or disable Connectivity Assist for all your connections, and then if you want to individually edit it for any of your Wi-Fi, you can do that from the i button at the name of the network.

ProRes Log Video Encoding

We also have a new camera setting with iOS 27 beta 4. When you go to your Camera settings and you go to Formats, then you will have the ProRAW format from Apple. If you enable ProRes, you will have a new setting called ProRes Log Video Encoding.

If you go to that setting, you will have log one, which is just Log, and then you have Log 2 as well. You can switch between any of them, and you also have a description for each of them underneath.

Automatic Downloads

If you go to the TV settings, you will now have the option to enable automatic downloads. It says, “The next two episodes of the shows you start in Continue Watching will automatically download.” Then you will be able to watch them even offline. But what’s cool is that they will be deleted once you finish watching them. So everything is done automatically.

If you use the Apple TV app and you want to have that feature now, you can enable it in the TV settings.

The TV widget in light mode

Another cool thing for Apple TV is the TV widget you have on your Home Screen. We have the big widget. It looks cool. But what we’re talking about is the ability to now have the widgets on the light mode.

Previously, the TV widget would be only on the dark mode. Assuming your device is on the dark mode, if you switch to the light mode, the TV widget will also support the light mode, which is cool. You don’t want to have all dark widgets when you have the light mode enabled on your device.

Home Screen icon tweaks

On the Home Screen, we also have other improvements. We have adjustments to the icons for the Wallet app as well as for the App Store app and the Compass app. Not big changes, but just slight improvements to the Liquid Glass icons that Apple has added with the new iOS 27.

The new Siri splash screen

There will also be a splash screen when you open the Siri search for the first time on iOS 27 beta 4: “All new Siri. Search for anything or start conversation with Siri.” This is a simple splash screen showing you what you can do from the Spotlight search with the new Siri.

The Preview app loop

On the Preview app, you finally can do a loop. This is a fun thing to do, so you can use this loop or whatever you want to call it to move it around and have some fun on the app with the Preview app, which is a newer app added on iOS 26 and it’s kind of fun.

Performance

The performance is looking good on everyday use. Everything is super smooth. Everything is fast. You can notice the improvements on the speeds of app loading and websites and all that stuff that Apple has talked about at WWDC 2026, but also it shows in numbers on Geekbench 6. In our testing, we got a single-core score at 3,834 and we got a multi-core score at almost 10,000, at 9,985, which is really good.

Beta release dates

The release date for iOS 27 beta 5 is expected to be August the 3rd. We had beta 4 on the 20th. This week we will have most likely the release of 26.6 to the public, so we don’t have a beta, but beta 5 should be released on the 3rd of August.

Then from beta 5 to the new beta 6, we will move on to a weekly schedule. Everything is based on the schedule that Apple has used in the last few years. Then you can expect a new beta every week until the RC release, so beta 7, beta 8, and then most likely we will have a pause, so we will have the RC on the 7th or the 8th of September. I’m expecting iOS 27 to go out to the public on the 14th of September.
