Several iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone18 Pro Max users have said that they are unable to send pictures to an Android device. Users have further said that they can send text messages but pictures do not go through.
iPhone users can use the Messages app to send messages. You can send texts and photos using SMS / MMS. When you send a message to an Android user, you will see a green message bubble indicating that your message is sent using RCS, SMS, or MMS instead of iMessage.
Some iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max users have said that they receive an error message saying “Cannot Send Message” or “Message Failed to Send”. And sometimes, your iPhone 18 Pro may say “Not Delivered” when they attempt to send photo messages. And lastly, some users have reported that the “add photo/media” button in Messages is not responsive.
When your message is failed to send, you will see a text saying “Message Send Failure”.
There are two main players: iPhone 18 Pro running iOS and smartphones (including Samsung, HTC, Oppo, LG, Huawei, Xiaomi, etc) running Android.
A lot of issues can cause this factor. And we understand that you want to fix this problem. In this article, we explain how you can troubleshoot this problem.
Please try the steps below. Please ensure to check the Messages app after each step to see if photo sending from 18 Pro to Android contacts starts working.
1. First
Before trying the steps below, make sure of the following:
- Ensure that your line is active. As you can guess, if your iPhone 18 Pro does not have an active cellular service plan that is in good standing, you will not be able to send text messages. If your device is saying “SOS Only,” “No Service” or “Searching”, you can’t connect to a cellular network or cellular data. If you are having these issues, contact your carrier.
- If you are using a “Pay as you go” MMS plan or something similar, please ensure that you have enough credit to send MMS messages.
- Ensure that Airplane Mode is disabled. Likewise, try this, turn on Airplane Mode, wait five seconds and then turn off Airplane Mode to see if this can fix this problem.
- Ensure that there are no outages in your area. To check, again contact your carrier.
- Ensure that you’ve installed the latest iOS software updates. You can check for updates by going to Settings > General > Software Update. If there is an update, follow the onscreen instructions to update your iPhone 18 Pro.
- Make sure that the person you are trying to contact is not blocked. You can check this by going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Blocked Contacts.
- On your iPhone, go to Settings, tap Cellular, turn off Cellular Data, then turn Cellular Data back on.
- Ensure that your recipient device has enough space to receive photos. Make sure that your device has enough space to receive images and videos, too. If you use SMS or MMS messaging to send photos or videos, your carrier may set size limits for attachments.
2. MMS Messaging
MMS stands for Multimedia Messaging Service. To send a message as iMessage, RCS, or MMS, you need a cellular data or Wi-Fi connection. Check with your carrier to see if the type of message you’re trying to send, like RCS, MMS, or SMS, is supported. If you experience an issue when you try to send full size images, you can manually send lower quality images: go to Settings > Apps > Messages and turn on Send Photo Previews or Low Quality Image Mode.
3. Restart
Simply restart your iPhone to see if this can help. Here is how:
- Press and hold either volume button and the side button together until you see the power off slider.
- Drag the slider.
- Wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off.
- Press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.
4. Force restart
If restarting does not resolve your problem, try force restarting your iPhone. Here is how:
Press and quickly release the volume up button. Press and quickly release the volume down button. Press and hold the side button. When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.
5. Carrier updates
On your iPhone 18 Pro, check for carrier updates. If there is an update, update your carrier setting update. Here is how:
- Tap Settings > General > About.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to install your carrier update.
6. Reset Network Settings
Reset network settings on your device. Please note that doing this resets all Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings. Follow the steps below:
Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings and follow the onscreen instruction. If asked, enter your passcode.
After trying everything above, If you can’t send photos from your iPhone 18 Pro to Android, contact your carrier for further help.
