Quickly fix AirPrint issues on your iPhone or iPad

After updating to iOS 26, many iPhone and iPad users found that AirPrint suddenly stopped working. Printing that worked perfectly before the update now either does nothing at all or fails after the printer is selected. In several cases, the printer still appears on the device, but tapping Print produces no response, or sometimes no printers can be found.

What makes this more confusing is that older iPhones, iPads, or _Mac_s running earlier versions of iOS or macOS can often still print without any issues. Some users can also print using the printer manufacturer’s app, but AirPrint itself refuses to work on iOS 26. It appears that, the problem is not always the phone alone–it is often related to printer firmware, network settings, or how the printer handles AirPrint after the update.

If AirPrint stopped working after updating your iPhone or iPad to iOS 26, try the steps below.

Try each step until your issue is fixed. Before you do anything, ensure that you are running the latest version of iOS, iPadOS and macOS.

Restart the printer and Wi-Fi router

The first thing you should do if AirPrint stopped working after updating to iOS 26 is to perform a full restart. Here’s how:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from power.
  • Restart your Wi-Fi router, unplug and then replug.
  • Plug the printer back in and allow it to fully boot.

Several users reported that fully power-cycling the printer (not just turning it off) brought AirPrint back.

Confirm your printer supports AirPrint

If the above didn’t fix your iOS 26 AirPrint issues, make sure that your printer support AirPrint. Some printers show up in the print list but do not officially support AirPrint. So, verify that your exact printer model supports AirPrint.

If AirPrint is not supported, printing may only work through the manufacturer’s app.
I am telling this because printers without proper AirPrint support often break after major iOS updates.

Likewise, some printers allow AirPrint to be disabled. Check the printer’s screen, settings menu, or web interface. Confirm AirPrint is turned on.

Even when AirPrint appeared enabled, some users found it only worked again after firmware updates or a reset.

Update the printer firmware

Updating the printer firmware was the most successful fix mentioned.

  • Many users restored AirPrint after installing the latest firmware or service pack.
  • This applied to printers from HP, Xerox, and Epson.

In some cases, the printer could not update itself automatically. Users had to:

  • Access the printer’s web interface using its IP address, or
  • Download the firmware manually from the manufacturer’s support site and install it following their instructions.

Once updated, AirPrint may begin working again.

Reset the printer to factory settings

If updating firmware does not help, try a full factory reset.

  • Reset the printer using its control panel or settings menu.
  • Reconnect it to Wi-Fi and set it up again from scratch.

A reset can also clear expired certificates or corrupted network settings inside the printer.

If this is a Mac, you can reset The Mac Printing System.
