An automated teller machine (ATM) is an electronic banking outlet that allows customers to complete basic transactions without the aid of a branch representative or teller. Anyone with a credit card or debit card can access cash at most ATMs, either in the U.S. or other countries.

You might be surprised to learn that you can withdraw cash from an ATM even without your debit card. This feature is known as a cardless ATM, and while not all ATMs have this feature, you can find those that do with many major banks.

Using a cardless ATM, you can use Apple Pay to get cash from your bank account at an ATM without inserting your debit or credit card into a card reader. This article explains how you can do that.

How to use Apple Pay at an ATM

First, check to make sure the ATM has the contactless payment symbol that indicates it accepts Apple Pay.

The Cardless NFC logo is usually displayed prominently on most ATMs that support the feature.
